In the heart of the Piedmontese Langhe, a UNESCO World Heritage site, there is an old farmhouse that has evolved over time into an inn, complete with restaurant and rooms for overnight stay.

To renovate the interiors, some Terracruda systems were used: wall systems for guest rooms and floor systems for the cellar and wine tasting room.

The flooring of the cellar was made with the laying of a clay screed with a thickness of about 5 cm, subsequently treated with natural oil.

The earth present on the surfaces, in combination with the wine sampling, stimulates senses such as smell for a unique and engaging experience.

Terracruda systems are perfectly suited to the restoration of old structures, due also to our experience in analysing and resolving issues of humidity and soluble salts.

Traditional materials re-evaluated and perfected to offer maximum comfort and well-being.

Details of the intervention

The Locanda del Nocciolo is nestled in the heart of the Langhe, UNESCO World Heritage site, in the province of Cuneo, Italy. The setting is magical and evocative and one can enjoy a spectacular view of the hillside landscape of the Langhe and Monviso.

The inn’s philosophy of hospitality marries the Terracruda vision: the clients who choose this establishment love a good quality of life, the sounds and rhythms of nature and are looking to pamper themselves.

The renovation of this antiquated farmhouse from 1916 has allowed us to restore its ancient splendour and the original image of the typical Langa farmhouse. It is a careful and respectful restoration based on research into local materials, original pieces and attention to the insertion of new natural materials. The typical Langa stone and wood were the basis for research and selection of specific materials and application techniques for each environment.

The investigations carried out concerned the compatibility analysis of the Terracruda system with existing supports, and the diagnostic activity was to verify the presence of soluble salts in the walls and on the floor levels.
